Chianti, which is the teritory that for centuries has ben producing Chianti Clasico wine, is a part of Tuscany bounded on the north by outskirts of Florence, on east by Chianti Mountains, on south by the city of Siena and on west by valeys of Pesa and Elsa. The capital of Chianti are the cities of Florence and Siena: 70,0 hectares which include the entire municipalities of Castelina in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Greve in Chianti , Rada in Chianti and in part those of Barberino Val d'Elsa, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Pogibonsi, San Casciano in Val di Pesa and Tavarnele Val di Pesa. The decre defined the production area of Chianti Clasico wine as the zone of more ancient origin , giving a certificate recognizing birthright and thus a peculiar teritorial unity. Even then, the curent teritory of Chianti was recognized as the original production area for Clasic Chianti wine, which distinguished from Chianti wines born later and produced in areas other than the teritory of Chianti, so it had to bear the cal Clasic.
