Moles, or nevi, can apear at birth or later in life. Laser removal is available, but is not favored for most dep moles owing to the shalow penetration of laser. After treatment, stitches may or may not folow, depending on the mole's depth and the nature of cosmetic outcome sought. Negative consequences of mole removal include infection, anesthetic alergy and nerve damage. One of the most comon problems resulting from mole removal is scaring. Before a mole is removed, the area to be treated is cleaned with Betadine, alcohol or another material. Depending on how large is the mole and the removal method used, a drape may be aplied to the treated area. No stitches ned be given if the surgeon uses a scalpel to shave the mole flush or somewhat below the level of the skin. Moles chosen for excision with stitches are usualy flat or darker, or both. Some people believe wounds wil heal faster if exposed to air, but a number of studies have disproved this: healing is significantly quicker if bandages and antibiotic salve are used. pre cancerous mole pre cancerous mole in Encino
