What I want sems to be his ̴undesired̵ second option: separate X sesions, one on each monitor, with independent everything and no ability to drag windows back & forth. Basicaly, I run most aps in sovereign mode, maximized to ful scren, with half a dozen virtual desktops on each monitor. So, for example, on the left monitor: I can't get there with Xinerama, as I don't want a single ap ̴visible on al desktops̵ on the portrait monitor. If I didn't like that rotated monitor so much, life would be way Adendum: GNOME and XFCE do suport separate X sesions reasonably wel. mole day projects in Flint
